:: ACE Certified Personal Trainer :: former USAC Level III Cycling Coach  :: Certified BodyGeometry Bike Fit Specialist

Coach and owner Marissa Axell began her athletic career at the age of 8, as a competitive swimmer. After completing her undergraduate degree with a BA in Biology from Willamette University (where she was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame), she put her 13 years of competitive swimming behind her and caught the triathlon bug. After finishing many olympic and half-ironman distance races, she tackled Ironman Coeur d’Alene (2005) and Ironman Wisconsin (2006). After completing both 140.6 mile races,  Marissa looked toward bike racing for her next challenge.

Marissa currently races as a Category 1 cyclist  for JLVelo Cycling Team p/b the Freewheel Women’s cycling team based in Northern California. While pursuing her own fitness goals, she also mentors local Category 4 women racers as part of the NCNCA mentoring program. Additionally, she’s passionate about coaching new clients and athletes, guiding each person to fulfill their health and wellness goals, whether it’s simply living a healthier lifestyle, or finding success at local, regional, national, or international competition.

During the week, you’ll find Marissa  teaching on-the-bike skill clinics; teaching invigorating indoor cycling, group strength training, TRX suspension classes and individual personal training at Cardio-Tone in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood. Currently, Marissa teaches regularly and diligently sells out classes at the boutique indoor cycling studio. Her style of  leading and coaching both on and off the bike, utilizing competition and collaboration creates a rewarding, challenging yet fun class. Her style carries over to her strength training circuit and TRX classes, emphasizing teamwork, collaboration and competition to yield the highest potential from her clients.
